Summary Hermes and Dream meet again.



He'd fallen asleep in the bookstore, curled on a chair. For the first time in centuries, he felt the familiar sensation of being in the Dreamworld. Rubbing his blue eyes, Hermes' face lit in a smile as he saw the nonsensical world around him. eyes now attuned to searching, he squealed happily when he found

"Morpheus!" he cried joyfully, wanting to hug the god but unsure if Morpheus would allow it. "Oh Morpheus I missed you!"

Dream looked down at Hermes calmly. "It's been a long time little one. I hope you have been well?"

Guiltily, Hermes looked down. "No..." he said softly, sitting down in the dreamscape. "I haven't been well at all...." He bit his lip, "Please make the nightmares stop, Morpheus..." his eyes were overbright. "I don't like remembering Ares..." he hugged his knees.

Dream sat down next to Hermes. "Of course, little one, I'll make them stop. First, tell me what is concerning you to make them come to be in the first place. The nightmares will go away if I make them, but whatever is making you remember Ares will still trouble you while you are waking."

He smiled, leaning lightly against Dream. "I keep dreaming about..." he swallowed, his voice quiet. "the old days. When I was his...his...his thing to hurt and rape and...and...everything." Tears were running down his cheeks now, and he hiccuped with the effort of holding back sobs.

Dream awkwardly put his arm around Hermes' shoulders and handed him a handkerchief. Not knowing what else to say, he sighed and muttered, "I'm sorry." He gave his best encouraging look and said, "Do not dwell on the past."

"I try. It's hard." He took the handkerchief gratefully, leaning against Dream gently. he was small and slender, so he hoped that Dream would be alright with it. Hermes wasn't exactly the most overbearing presence in the world...

"I love you," Hermes said softly, smiling a watery smile up at the Dream god, "You're like my other big brother..."

Dream looked down at Hermes and gave him an almost smile and an approving look. He would have said more, but he wasn't too good with encouraging words.
