In a bizarre way, she thought she could be almost grateful to the daeva for involving himself (if he really did have benign intentions, which she wasn't about to take for granted.) If he was teaching her how to trust, though, that would have to be a good thing. Wouldn't it? Ellie still wasn't terribly good at that herself, so it was hard to say for sure.
