"It's all about the suggestive hand gestures," teased Crowley before growing sober again. He rubbed the back of his neck, unconsciously imitating John's habitual gesture. After a long, silent moment, he said, "Yeah, something happened to him. But I don't know that it's my story to tell. If he'd wanted you to know, he would have already told you."
